The Libraries offer access to hundreds of databases and e-journals from off campus. UAlbany logon is required.

Off-Campus Access Instructions For Databases and Online Journals

We offer access to hundreds of databases and e-journals from off-campus. UAlbany logon (with NetId and password) is required.

If you are on campus, you do not need to authenticate yourself to access these resources.

We use a proxy-server for off-campus access to databases. So if you are working from home, on Starbucks wi-fi, or anywhere outside UAlbany's computer network, our proxy server makes sure that you are a registered library borrower and then connects you to the specified sites.   

This proxy server machine may be used to connect to library resources only by members of the University at Albany community. All use by any others, for any purposes, is forbidden.

Authorization is a two step procedure:
  1. Be sure you are a registered library borrower. You must currently be affiliated with the university as faculty, student or staff.
  2. When you click on the link to one of our restricted resources, an authentication page will appear that prompts you for your NetID (i.e. "username") and Password.

How to Use NetIDs in the University Libraries

All Students, faculty and staff at UAlbany are assigned a NetID (i.e. "username") and must set an associated password. These together are called their UAlbany credentials and provide access to most University networked services including the following library services:

  1. Off-campus access to databases and online journals.
     
  2. My Library Card to review current materials checked out, review loan history, and renew materials within our online catalog.
     
  3. Interlibrary Loan (a.k.a. "ILLiad") and UA Delivery for requesting materials.
     
  4. Electronic Reserves for 24/7 online access to course-related readings, lecture notes, PowerPoints, and more.
